Many children struggle with acquiring the necessary foundation for reading and writing, which can lead to more long term academic struggles.
We specialize in IMSE’s Orton-Gillingham approach to reading and writing intervention:
IMSE’s Orton Gilligham approach focuses on direct, explicit, systematic, and sequential instruction that teaches the connection between letters and sounds
Utilizes a multi-sensory approach to learning
Breaks reading and spelling down into smaller skills, then builds on these skills over time
Effective for children with dyslexia, dysgraphia or any other learning challenges
dyslexia
A brain-based learning disorder that affects reading ability. While symptoms of dyslexia manifest in many ways, dyslexic individuals often experience struggles with the components that make up reading like phonemic awareness or phonological processing. They can’t easily recognize and break down the sounds of letters, or segment words into syllables.
dysgraphia
A neurological disorder of written expression that impairs writing ability and fine motor skills. It is a learning disability that affects children and adults, and interferes with practically all aspects of the writing process, including spelling, legibility, word spacing and sizing, and expression.
