SPEECH

Speech is the way in which we vocalize and articulate our thoughts, feeling, and ideas. Children who experience difficulty in one or more aspects of speech production, may greatly benefit from direct speech intervention to develop age-appropriate speech skills. 

We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of the following speech-related issues:

oral motor weakness

Weakness in movement of any of the articulators, including jaw, lips, and tongue, which may manifest in difficulty with speech production and/or feeding

**Achievement of solid oral motor skills is a prerequisite for the development of accurate speech production and successful feeding abilities.

apraxia of speech

Difficulty with motor programming and planning necessary for speech production

articulation disorders  

Difficulty forming age-appropriate sounds

phonological disorders

Phonological patterns present in sound production errors

voice disorders

Disruption in vocal pitch, loudness, and quality

stuttering

Disruption in normal flow of speech by hesitations, prolongations, and repetitions of sounds
